Dear Paul
Thank you for your email of 25 March 2025 about around speeding and weight limits on the A1033 Hedon Road. We do understand your concerns and appreciate you taking the time to contact us about the issue.
In relation to your concerns regarding excessive speed, we're not an enforcement agency and as such have no powers of prosecution. This would have to be raised with your local police force or Humberside Road Safety Partnership.
Regarding the current weight limit, the standard 44 tonne limit for UK roads is in place, with a permit required for abnormal and/or heavy loads to use this section of network.
There are currently no plans to introduce a weight limit for HGVs. The A1033 forms part of the strategic road network and connects some of the key ports, manufacturing and logistics facilities in Hull with the rest of the UK as well as serving international destinations for people and goods. It would therefore not be feasible to consider an HGV weight limit for this section of our network.
You can check who your local councillor is here using your postcode but we believe it is Rosemary Pantelakis and her contact details are councillor.pantelakis@hullcc.gov.uk or 01482 613 583.
Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.
You can report general maintenance issues such as litter, overgrown vegetation or potholes through our online reporting tool linked here.
Kind Regards
