Footpath closed

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 19:24, Wednesday 19 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7305926.

The A64 is a very, very busy road. The footpath that leads to the bus stop has been closed by the contractor working on the building and grounds at the location on interactive map your site brought up. The what3words location glorified. spines. copy This is just a point along the route closed. There was no warning of this and no indication of the end date. There is very noisy work being carried out throughout the night and again there was information given to residents, see what3words shifters. unleashed. closet where there are 5 residential properties. Whereas I realise the work needs to be carried out, it would have been good manners to inform neighbours and apologise for the inconvenience. York City Council have been informed and claim it is your responsibility.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us via FixMyStreet on 19 March 2025 about works on the A64. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to contact us and are sorry that these works are causing disruptions.

Please accept our apologies that no letters were issued to residents in the area in advance of the works commencing. We understand that this will have been disappointing and we can ensure you going forward that for any other works in the area that occur again, we will send out letters and have a more robust communication strategy.

The works are being carried out using a breaker which is likely the main cause of the noise, however, this will not be in use after tomorrow night. The scheme is due to finish between the 9 April 2025 and 11 April 2025, but once the breaker is no longer on site from Wednesday the noise levels will reduce.
