Pothole caused my tyre to blow

Reported via mobile in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 15:23, Wednesday 19 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7304566.

I was travelling on the A35 on Monday 17th at approximately 1920 whilst overtaking a slow car I hit a pothole. There was a loud bang, the car steering pulled and the check tyres alarm came on in the car. As it was dark and in the overtaking lane of the duel carriage was I was unable to get a photo of the pothole. I was able to pull over in the parking area What three words location grin.resettled.ringers. the pothole is located a short distance back from there just as the signs for the parking start. I called a recovery vehicle, paid the £40 policy excess and the recovery was able to change my wheel. I have had to get a new tyre, have the tracking fixed and wheels balanced costing £283.00. I wondered if there is any kind of compensation at all for these charges, I can send receipts if needed.
