Road works causing vehicles to merge into one lane right onto a drain with holes all around it.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 10:28, Tuesday 18 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7296294.

Road works causing vehicles to merge into one lane, East bound. In this lane there is a drain with potholes surrounding it, which you have to stop to go over to not cause any damage to tyres. This is totally unacceptable as this will cause damage and drivers have no choice but to drive over it as there is not room due to road works. This needs to be filled in ASAP before they start the road works. Traffic is backing up and this is made worse by each driver having to stop to go over it. This is going to cause a lot of damage to tyres.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report about the traffic management for the emergency Southern Gas Works on the A27, which are causing vehicles to navigate a pothole in lane 2 when passing the works.

We'v carried out an inspection of the pothole this morning and whilst not considered a 'safety' issue, an order has been raised for a repair to be carried out once the SGN works have been completed & the traffic management removed tomorrow.

    Kind regards
