The litter on the slip roads and main carriage way. Both directions

The M2 is a litter bin. The whole length of the motorway is a disgrace but really terrible by the services. It looks terrible, 8s a risk to drivers if it blows around and harms wildlife.

Please arrange for the litter by the Gate Services to be collected. The A2 is like a litter bin but the Gate Service area is absolutely the worst area. A massive litter bin

Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter.
We’re currently in the process of conducting litter clearance activities from junction 6 of the M2 up to the A2 junction with the M25 in both directions. This is expected to take place in phases under overnight closures during the next few months throughout Spring and this will include this area of the M2.
Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.
Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
Kind regards
National Highways
