All slip roads on/off the A2 and M2 in Kent

Reported via desktop in the Slip Roads (NH) category anonymously at 15:17, Tue 11 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7262047.

I've driven a long length of the A2 (joining at Watling Street, Gravesend) today and exited the M2 at junction 6 (Faversham). The entire journey is filthy on all verges and slip roads. An utter disgrace of National Highways who clearly are not taking ANY measures to deal with litter. Please clean up our beautiful country. We are a mess and an embarrassment!

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter.

We’re currently in the process of conducting litter clearance activities from junction 6 of the M2 up to the A2 junction with the M25 in both directions. This is expected to take place in phases under overnight closures during the next few months throughout Spring

Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.

Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
