Temporary traffic light left against verge on small narrow road

Reported via desktop in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 19:52, Monday 10 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7257300.

The temporary traffic lights which is not operating at night has been left next to the verge but is still in the narrow road. Therefore, when traffic is coming in opposite direction (going towards Andover), you have to stop as not enough room to get past it with oncoming traffic. There is NO warning you are driving towards this so catches you out quickly and could end up with a road incident with oncoming traffic if traffic light has not been correctly placed ON the verge.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the redundant traffic management equipment. We will arrange for one of our local inspectors to investigate this. Where we have identified redundant equipment, this will be removed. However, in some cases we do leave items in place for future use. Some isolated cones may also be in place for a specific purpose that may not be clear to passing vehicles. Kind regards National Highways
