Lights not changing from red
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:47, Monday 10 March 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7256018.
When exiting Birch Coppice Business Park to the right onto the A5, the traffic light is not changing from red, unless you pull out on to oncoming traffic at which time it changes. Not sure if there is a sensor that usually faces the traffic that has fallen or if something else but last 3 days have had to get out of car to tell person at front of queue what is happening as been sat for 3 full rotations of the traffic light systems at this junction without if changing to green. As soon as they move through the junction at the right time it then changes.

This is still happening intermittently, mainly at rush hour (5pm-6.30pm) they don't always change to green when required and stay on red, making the traffic back up

This is now a real safety concern, sitting and waiting for nearly 20 mins for traffic lights to change. Drivers' re getting very frustrated and taking deadly risks crossing the traffic lights this is especially noticeable at 5pm when people are leaving work

Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.
If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.
Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
Kind regards National Highways
