Huge amounts of litter on both sides of the carriageway.

Reported via mobile in the Layby/ Emergency Area (NH) category anonymously at 17:26, Wednesday 5 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7231650.

The litter makes the main access into Leeds from the West look like a third world country. Surely it is possible for litter pickers to be used. The litter stretches from junction 2 right up to the jnc to join the .62 going west and from there to Elland Road going east.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter. We can confirm that your report has been passed to our local inspection team. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. Litter on the M621 as a whole is picked three-times per year, May, September and February. All slip roads are picked six-times per year; May, July, September, November, January and March Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Kind regards National Highways
