Horrendous amount of litter on M2 A228 Exir

The amount of litter as you exit the motorway on the M2 junction for the A228 West Malling is diabolical. You can see there’s been previous reports about it dating back to October 2023. Obviously nothing has been done there is more litter than grass, bushes ans trees. It’s absolutely horrendous. I would happily go down there and start collecting it myself however it will be extremely dangerous as the litter is even no on the live carriageway, hard shoulder, roundabout and verges. Guesstimating at least over 10000 bottles, wrappers etc it’s absolutely disgusting Something needs to be done it’s disgusting

We’re currently in the process of arranging litter clearance activities from junction 6 of the M2 up to the A2 junction with the M25 in both directions. This is expected to take place in phases over the next few months into Spring and this includes junction 2.
Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.
Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
