Trail of litter on A1(M) northbound (after London)

Reported via desktop in the Main Carriageway (NH) category anonymously at 16:56, Tuesday 25 February 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7188133.

There is a near uninterrupted trail of litter on A1(M) northbound from just north of London for many junctions. I've driven up a few times in the past couple of weeks, and cannot believe the trail of plastic and debris. You don't see people chucking litter from cars. It must have been there for a long time. It is - as you acknowledge - damaging to the environment and also unacceptable. When is it going to be addressed?

Updates

  • The length of the A1 out of London has litter strewn down the side. I've used it a lot recently. It never gets better. Just bits of plastic and yet more plastic. Never seen any driver throw litter out of their car.
