Southbound before Junction indicated there is no sign indicating traffic merges from the left. The on slip is partially blocked from driver sight by tall chevrons on the off slip.

Updates

  • Thank you for submitting this report regarding signage.

As per the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 4 – Warning Signs Section 2.3.3 (a) stated that traffic merge warning signs should normally be used where there is no other advance signing on a main carriageway indicating a junction ahead, e.g. where there is an access lip road, but no exit slip road preceding it to alert drivers to the likelihood of joining traffic. Unfortunately in this case, we have advance signing for the junction and we have a diverge (offslip) for the junction, competent drivers will expect a merge (onslip) following the diverge (onslip) and hence there is no need for a traffic merge warning sign.

In the future could you please report issues such as this to our Customer Contact Centre as this reporting tool is designed for defects such as a broken sign or barrier, litter, overgrown vegetation or potholes.
