Ebbsfleet slip roads and roundabouts badly littered

Reported via desktop in the Slip Roads (NH) category anonymously at 12:15, Thursday 20 February 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7162174.

Both of the two Ebbsfleet junction roundabouts, and adjoining slip roads, are covered in litter. They have had grassed areas cut back, but litter wasn't collected and now have remained with a build up of litter and debris, as well as old road signage and cones. It is a complete state. These roundabouts and slip roads are National Highways maintained responsibility and are being neglected from being cleaned.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter.

We’re currently in the process of arranging litter clearance activities from junction 6 of the M2 up to the A2 junction with the M25 in both directions. This is expected to take place in phases over the next few months into Spring and the Ebbsfleet junction will be part of this clearance work.

Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.

Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
