Uneven suface going into lane 3

Travelling eastbound on the M4 at approximately near Membury services it appears that lanes 1 and 2 have been resurfaced but not lane 3. I overtook a vehicle and went from lane 2 to lane 3 and the difference in road surface felt very unnerving crossing lanes and wobbled the car slightly. Never experienced anything like this in 30 years of motoring and its not my car is its nearly new at 2 months old. Tried the same maneuver a little while later and again felt the exact same experience, very unnerving. My wife also commented that something didn’t feel right moving from lane 2 to lane 3. Conditions were dry and wouldn’t like be doing this maneuver in the wet. Clearly the road surfaces of lanes 1 and 2 don’t match lane 3.
