Huge amounts of rubbish on slip roads and the roundabouts

The entire slipway (A228) the roundabouts and the slipway back onto M2 London bound is a mass of rubbish that has to my knowledge not been cleared for months, I travel this way 3-4 times a week. It’s especially bad after the road has been shut for road repairs overnight. The roundabouts are overgrown with vegetation and the road and curbs need clearing and sweeping. There is also discarded road repair signs left everywhere . Very depressing to see so much rubbish piling up.

Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter.
Subject to gaining the necessary authority, we’re currently in the process of arranging litter clearance activities from junction 6 of the M2 up to the A2 junction with the M25 in both directions. This is expected to take place in phases over the next few months into Spring
Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.
Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
