Bridge damaged

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 16:36, Wed 22 January 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7018204.

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the damaged bridge railing at M54 Junction 7, heading west, which was hit in August 2023. Since the incident, cones and barriers have been placed around the damaged area on the hard shoulder, but as of January 2025, no repairs have been made. The ongoing presence of these barriers has created an eyesore and left the hard shoulder unavailable for emergency use.

In addition to the disruption caused, I am concerned that this prolonged delay in repair works may be a significant and unnecessary financial burden on taxpayers, particularly given the extended period of inactivity. While I have observed maintenance personnel parked at the site on occasion, it is unclear why the repairs have not yet been completed despite the considerable amount of time that has passed.

I have previously reported this issue to my local councillor, but I would appreciate any further insight into the reasons for this delay and any steps being taken to address the situation promptly.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response
