Lights going red even when button is not pressed

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 19:23, Monday 20 January 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7008225.

The pedestrian crossing lights on the west-bound side are constantly going red, as if someone has pressed the button to cross, yet there is no-one there. After going green a few cars are let through before the lights go red again. This obviously causes huge tailbacks at busier times. I can see from previous reports going back a few years that this problem has either never been fixed, or has returned.

Updates

  • Repeated issues with Southbound Pedestrian crossing lights coming on when no Pedestrians. Consider replacement of unit - Just Saying, as this fault keeps reoccurring, even after allegedly resolved.
