Cats eyes scattered and broken in all 3 lanes on A1, SOUTHBOUND

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 13:01, Mon 23 December 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6893420.

Many cats eyes are scattered and broken across all 3 lanes of the road for for over a mile. Very dangerous as some are broken and sharp looking, could affect people's tyres. Also very dangerous as will impact night drivers' awareness of where the lanes are in the road, particularly in bad weather at night. Noticed approximately around WF8 3JH Pontefract until HQXJ+QXX Doncaster (using Google maps plus code to try and be precise)

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We are pleased to confirm that the issue you reported has now been resolved. A repair was completed under an emergency closure on 20 December 2024 and although not everything could be reinstated, it was sufficient so that no significant hazard is present to the public passing through the site.

Regular patrols are undertaken to confirm the temporary markings and studs are satisfactory.

We hope that this improves any future experience you have using this road.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
