Broken drainage pipe
Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 15:58, Mon 16 December 2024
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6868961.
On the overbridge directly above the A49 lane and on the East side of the bridge is the drainage outfall in plastic pipe. A large section of this has fallen away quite some time ago. When raining the large flow rate drops directly onto the carriageway below. It is unclear if futher parts of this pipe are also loose or just this section that has disappeared. I do remember a major accident incident on that spot some time ago on the M6 Southbound so that may have been the original cause. The pipe has not been replaced/repaired. During the upcoming frosts this will likely present patches of ice below due to the quantities being discharged. By the way you cannot get to this part of your reporting if you answer "Yes" in the previous section.
