I live directly next to this bridge of m66 motorway, which is a misery in itself, aswell as rochdale old road itself. All the pigeons are living in the gaps in/under the bridge; they only fly to mine and the next-door roofs (2 end houses next to the bridge). I have extrament daily down my front windows and on my doorsteps, then walked into the home, also blocking up my gutters; they are damaging my roof tiles to the point of rain leakage. I have young children highly susceptable to disease. this pest problem due to the bridge is making all our lives even more of a misery, can netting not be adding to the gaps under the bridge or some solution to this pest invasion?

Thank you for contacting National Highways about the pigeons on our network.
Safety is our highest priority and any animals on the carriage way that pose a risk to vehicles and their occupants will be removed as quickly and safely as possible.
Household pets, such as a dogs and cats, will be retrieved, and we endeavour to reunite pets with their owners if they can be identified through microchips or other identification.
Wild animals, lying off the carriageway, on verges or the central reservation, are normally left to naturally decay. However, they will be removed if they are considered a hazard, a danger to public health or there is a statutory obligation for testing or removal.
Our local inspector team will make these assessments during their regular safety inspections. If a deterrent is required for pests, this will be investigated into and a resolution found as soon as possible.
Kind regards National Highways
