Missing reflective self righting bollard at Layby entrance

Reported via mobile in the Damage to Sign (NH) category anonymously at 12:17, Tue 10 December 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6844055.

This layby has a raised kerb on a sharp bend and all the reflective marker posts that should mark this kerb all the way along are completely missing. In any bad weather, or snow, this raised kerb presents a serious danger by not being marked. Please replace the missing marker posts or at least put in a more appropriate self righting bollard at the entrance as an urgent safety priority. The kerb is clearly heavily damaged from collisions. A longer lasting and cheaper solution would also be to lay Red cats eyes reflectors all the way along it that cannot be destroyed by collisions, although these do not help in the snow.

  • Thank you for making us aware of this.

Our inspectors have raised a defect, and we’ll be instructing our contractors to replace them. Unfortunately, I’m currently unable to provide you with a timescale for this as we need to order the replacements and apply for roadspace, but I’d like to assure you that this will be done as soon as possible.

    Kind regards National Highways
