Excessive amount of litter

Hi there previous reported fault ref 6499929. The vegetation has been cleared but the litter has been shredded, the contractor has cut back the vegetation shredded the litter everywhere and now left exposed the actual amount of litter that is covering the whole rounds about, used road signs, tyres, old traffic cones plastic bottles and car parts littering the complete junction it’s an utter disgrace to be honest that it has been left like this.

We have passed your report to our local inspector who will review the issue as part of their next safety inspection and arrange any remedial action.
Please Note: The responsibility for maintenance of the actual road surface and structures (bridges) at this location falls to National Highways, however the local authority (Uttlesford District Council) is responsible for litter collection on this roundabout.
Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.
Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
