Overgrown Vegetation and Litter

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath issue (NH) category anonymously at 19:04, Friday 29 November 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6801827.

There is a field of waste ground at this location. The vegetation from this field has overgrown onto the pavement making it difficult to walk along the footpath. Consequently, pedestrians have walk in the road, which is dangerous and HGV's use this road to access the construction suppliers. There also a lot of litter amongst the vegetation, which is encouraging vermin into the area.

  • Thank you for making your report regarding the overgrown vegetation on the A12 at Marks Tey. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen.

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, we’re responsible for collecting litter on England’s motorways and a few other strategic trunk roads. Local authorities are responsible for collecting litter on the remaining trunk and local roads, including the A12, please contact them directly to address this issue.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
