M6 south Jct 15 to 14 incorrect smart signs

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6794170.

M6 Jct 15-14 southbound had smart motorway signs indicating roadworks and closed lanes 1-3, 40mph speed restriction for lane 4. It was approximately 8.30pm so was dark. There were no roadworks/cones/work people on that stretch of the motorway, the carriageway was clear throughout. Given that there were no roadworks and that it was dark, I felt it was safer to move from lane 4 to 1 to continue doing 40mph. I was then flashed by a camera, presumably for driving under a ‘lane closed’ sign, despite the lane not being closed.
