Vegetation obscuring forward visibility

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 12:19, Wed 27 November 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6791406.

The M54 eastbound merge link to M6 has significantly reduced forward visibility due to vegetation on the offside verge. This issue exists for the full length of the curve that crosses the M6 & under Hobnock Road. When travelling in lane 2 I have estimated the forward visibility as low as 100m due to vegetation growing up to the VRS. For a 120kph design speed the link should achieve a minimum of 215m forward visibility. When looking at older satellite images and the set back of the Hobnock Road bridge abutment, it appears that the link was designed with 215m forward visibility. When travelling along this link recently i came across queuing traffic and all vehicles had to break extremely hard to avoid a collision. This lack of maintenance is a serious safety issue and is clearly an ongoing issue over many years!
