Lack of traffic light

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 08:07, Fri 22 November 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6769941.

There is no traffic light on the exit junction 3 of the m18 southbound sliproad this is causing tailbacks at peak time which is backing up traffic into live lanes on the motorway

  • Thank you for your report.

We can confirm that although the slip road is the responsibility of National Highways, the roundabout is the responsibility of the Local Council. You can contact Doncaster Council below for more information.

We're aware of the problem and whilst we do appreciate adding additional signals may seem like a simple solution, our in-depth study work and modelling has demonstrated the need to widen certain elements of the gyratory and add additional capacity. This type of scheme will require considerable funding and unfortunately, there is currently no funding available to National Highways or Doncaster Council that would support such a large investment.

We do have national studies on-going, but we cannot yet offer any commitment to the scheme until the study is completed and we have a clear picture regarding RIS3.
    Kind regards
