Likely abandoned cones and 50mph signs

Reported via desktop in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 19:26, Wed 20 November 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6765563.

Cones and 50mph signs have been up for the last 6 months at least with no work is being done. This is unsafe as it is misleading. A few motorists follow the speed limit as one should but many don’t (presumed locals). I despite being a local to that road follow but have not witnessed any work being done for at least 3 months.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

On the M27, a temporary speed limit has been installed until repairs to the damaged parapet can be completed. In the meantime, you’ll see a varioguard safety barrier has been installed. The reduction in speed is to avoid any further accidents involving the public or any more damage to the parapet. We’re looking to complete a permanent repair at the earliest opportunity.

I understand that you’ve not seen work undertaken when passing. Some of our work will not be visible or obvious to drivers but requires speed restrictions for the safety of road users and road workers.

Safety is a priority and in cases where we cannot do an immediate and permanent repair, we have to ensure that measures such as speed restrictions are put in place until we can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Kind regards National Highways
