Variable signage incomplete and confusing

The variable speed signs are broken and showing haphazard information
On the same board, lane 1/3 only showing a speed not lane 2
Signage between boards is misleading and confusing
1st board shows hard shoulder closed, next sign shows nothing
The signs are really dangerous and need fixing to show clear and consistent instructions
Not all sections on the boards are showing information creating confusion on what lanes are open.
2 weeks ago I reported an incident to police as board one showed lane 1 open lane 2/3 closed, next board showed nothing so cars moved across assuming lanes open despite workmen on road.

Thank you for contacting National Highways Please be assured that all signal issues report automatically into our database for urgent attention. An engineer has investigated and deemed that a full replacement of signals is required. We are now awaiting the necessary permissions to complete the swap, as a minimum of two lanes are required to be closed on the road to remove the signal from the gantry and install a new one using a crane. We carried out work within a closure on 13 November and were able to carry out works on two signals and three message signs. We are coordinating further closures as a priority with the aim of minimal impact to customers using the network. Kind regards National Highways
