Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:53, Mon 28 October 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6668315.

The angle of the traffic lights on th eM180/M18 junction is misleading. When travelling on the M180 and opting for the freeflow slip to join th M18 you are suddenly confronted with a traffic light which is intended for traffic joining the roundabout towards the services and not for the M18 slip. I have witnessed several near accidents where drivers not familiar with the area have suddenly braked and stop if the light changes or is at red. This is particularly prevalent with foreign drivers. In fact I have at times been tempted to brake myself even though I know the situation. The traffic light requires re-angling to make it obvious that it does not apply to the freeflow slip.
