Red out on Tall pole

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:40, Mon 28 October 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6668178.

Sirs

I am reporting that the RED traffic light to the inside lane of the B4509 travelling east for the M5 Junction 14 slip road north is not working. Your urgent line is not taking calls.

This is very dangerous. Today at approximately 13:30 a vehicle drove up the inside lane and on to the M5 Northbound slip road through a red light into the path of cars travelling west on the B4509 turning right onto the motorway. I was stationary in second vehicle stopped at the lights intending to travel east along B4509 to Charfield. The first vehicle was a tall articulated lorry that was completely obscuring the line of site from the inside lane to the right hand traffic light which was at RED. It is highly likely that the vehicle that drove through the red light onto the motorway could not see that the lights were on RED.

By good fortune a collision was avoided on this occasion, but if the lights are not repaired the next driver who approaches the lights with the right hand lights obscured may not be so lucky.

Best regards
