Spalled Concrete with exposed Reinforcement

I’m reaching out on behalf of Network Rail, where I work as an Asset Engineer. I wanted to follow up on an issue we previously reported regarding the Overline Bridge (recorded as LEC4_4A in our system) at Cresswell Viaduct, M6, Stafford, ST18 9QT (coordinates: 52.820698, -2.152317).

At Network Rail, we're responsible to examine external/outside parties structures that interact with our railway land to keep everyone informed about any potential problems that could impact railway operations and public safety. Despite the intentions and plans for repairs shown by your SMIS manager, the issue remains unresolved.

The concern we reported earlier involves extensive spalled concrete with exposed reinforcement on the track faces of the piers. Unfortunately, our recent visual exams indicate that this issue is still ongoing.

Could you please share your management plans for this structure? Specifically, I’d like to know how often it’s examined in detail and how you’re planning to address the current defects. We kindly request that you arrange for the necessary repairs to ensure the safety of both our railway operations and highway users above.

Also, if you could please send over yours latest detailed examination report for the bridge, that would be really great. It’ll help us in managing and safeguarding our operational railway below.
