Missing final ADS gantry

Reported via desktop in the Damage to Sign (NH) category anonymously at 13:39, Wed 23 October 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6649759.

The final ADS gantry on the M4 eastbound approach to Almondbury I/C (J20) was hit about 7 years ago by an HGV. Surely there should be an insurance claim and you should be able to reclaim the costs to put back the gantry.

Also the temporary black on yellow signs have been there for so many years in the verges, they have faded to nothing, so cannot be read.

Is there any update on plans for replace the gantry?

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

We currently have the replacement of the gantry sign in our forward programme for construction in 2032/33. This is due to us having to manage the replacement along with other priorities on the Strategic Road Network.

We’ve raised a job for the temporary signs to be replaced. The job is currently with our contractors for pricing. Our contractors are getting prices for new temporary signs to be manufactured. Once these are manufactured and delivered; we can then get the signs replaced on site.

    Kind regards
