Existing potholes and defects not rectified during lengthy overnight road closures for eastbound repairs between J54 and J55

Reported via mobile in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 17:39, Mon 21 October 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6642317.

Issues in previously tarmaced sections of the eastbound carriageway have been left by contractors. This is despite the fact that A14 eastbound J54 to J55 has been subject to overnight closures when issues could easily have been rectified while the road was closed to traffic. There needs to be appropriate snagging as the old and new sections of tarmac do not join up neatly and potholes in previously tarmaced sections have been left. The layby which was used by the resurfacing company has been left in a poor condition.

  • Thank you for making your report regarding the road surface condition on the A14 at Sproughton. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
