Excessive Run-off from A2 into Out Elmstead Lane

KCC has received reports from residents located in Out Elmstead Lane of excessive volumes of surface water run-off coming from the A2 into Out Elmstead Lane during recent rainfall, including a severe instance on 8th September, carrying with it mud and debris. This is overwhelming the drains within the road and flooding their driveways and garages. Please could drainage on the A2 local to this area be inspected and would appreciate details of actions being taken being fed back so we can let them know.

    Our team visited this location on 8 October 2024, and we've confirmed the gullies on the western side of the A2 at Out Elmstead Lane are all ok and are taking water.

    However, it was identified that on the eastern side of Out Elmstead Lane there was a blocked gully. Or team have raised a job with our maintenance partners to conduct remedial works within the next 28 days to clear this gully. This is subject to road space approval.

    We'll continue to monitor the area during our regular inspections. Should any safety defects arise, then we’ll arrange the necessary remedial work if required.
