Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 19:48, Thu 3 October 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6549277.

Around halfway through or just after, in the northbound tunnel there is muddy water leaking down the side wall, this seems to be increasing?

  • Thank you for submitting this enquiry

The tunnel structure is inspected on a 2 yearly basis, with a close examination carried out every six years. A detailed inspection of the water seepage was carried out in 2021 and is closely monitored by our structures inspection teams. Tunnel concrete linings are designed to be exposed to groundwater and will in some cases like Hindhead tunnel seep through construction joints. There is no concern as to the structural integrity of the tunnel at this time.

    Kind regards National Highways
