Detection is faulty

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6513302.

I work for Traffic Section at St Helens Council and we have received numerous requests to look into the queuing times at this junction, particularly westbound. Drivers have complained that the signals do not let the usual amount of cars through on the green phase. Can you please investigate as I suspect there are faults on the detection system. Also can you please inform your front-line staff that these traffic signals are maintained by NH rather than StH Council.

    The local authority is responsible for maintenance issues of this nature on this road. National Highways are only responsible for 2 lights along the Haydock Island. We don’t have jurisdiction on other signals along the A580.

    We’re aware of issues with our lights at Haydock Island and a repair is being designed with our Smart Motorway team. This is due to be repaired by January 2025 due the complexity of the repair required.
