Central reservation and carriageway lights inoperative

Reported via desktop in the Not working (NH) category by Chris Woods at 12:33, Thu 19 September 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6490024.

A month or so ago, I noticed that street lighting was intermittent or not working along a stretch of the M602, the slip road joining M602 to M60, the Jct 13 exit slip and and parts of the A572 Leigh Road approach to Boothstown.

The following day the A572 lighting appeared to be OK again, however the other stretches along the M602 (roughly between location signs M602/B/1.5 to M602/B/1.1; the M602/M60 northbound slip road (53.485580, -2.376669) and a few on the M60/A572 exit slip remained inoperative, and are still inop now, despite reporting them by phone to National Highways several weeks ago.

I think there's an increasing risk of someone overspeeding the exit slip and hitting the barrier, and of reduced visibility along the M602 stretch. I'm wondering if there's an unresolved distribution fault affecting power to those stretches of lights?

Updates

  • It's been a year, and these lights are still inoperative. Likewise the lights on the slip road (separately reported, FMS6490035).
