Pothole on M5 fast lane

Subject: Claim for Vehicle Damage Due to Pothole Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to report damage to my vehicle caused by a pothole on the M5 motorway and to request compensation for the repair costs incurred.

On Thursday, 29th August, I was traveling from Cornwall to my home in Stoke-on-Trent. While I do not know the exact location, it was after crossing a bridge where several cars and lorries were parked on the left side of the motorway, possibly near a car or lorry manufacturing facility. I was driving in the fast lane when my car hit a pothole.

Upon reaching home, I began hearing unusual noise from the front tire, which had hit the pothole. I took my car to the Mercedes dealership, as they had recently serviced my brakes before the trip. They inspected the vehicle and advised that the “O/S/F spring link arm ball joint” had developed excessive play. I strongly believe this damage was caused by the pothole impact.

The repair cost, as quoted by Mercedes, amounts to £490.70. I am seeking compensation for this expense, as the damage directly resulted from the poor road conditions.

Please advise on the process for submitting a formal claim and if any further information is required. I have attached relevant documents, including Mercedes' repair estimate, for your reference.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt response.

Kind regards,
