Surface water

Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 10:47, Wednesday 4 September 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6434562.

Extremely dangerous.

When it rains, the poor drainage/lack of camber on the carriageway causes standing huge areas of standing water/water flowing straight downhill down the carriageway.

Especially bad on the narrow lanes urban uphill section going North from Jct 2, and then where it opens where it opens to three lanes just out of Bury, and the traffic speeds up to overtake in Lane 3, where large pools of water catch the driver's side of vehicles.

Can see another person has reported this and how dangerous it is. Would like National Highways's response this time to actually say what action they're doing to sort it rather than just that they'll look into it. Especially coming into Autumn. Perhaps a variable speed limit should be introduced reducing speed to say 50mph when it rains and closing the overtaking lane 3, or permanent 50mph until works can be done to make the road safe.
