60MPH Speed Limit on M62

Reported via desktop in the Electronic Sign (NH) category anonymously at 14:54, Monday 2 September 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6427025.

For approximately 3 weeks, the matrix signs between jct10 and jct12 on both the eastbound and westbound carriages of the M62 have been displaying a 60MPH limit 24 hours a day. The signs have given varying reasons over the weeks (obstruction, queues etc), none of which have been substantiated. Is there a reason why this limit has been in place? If so, how long will this limit continue to be in place?

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

Speed was reduced to 60mph as a necessary safety measure. We’ve been upgrading the MIDAS radars which detect vehicle traffic flow. We’re currently testing the system. If successful we expect the reduced speed signs will be cleared this week.

    Kind regards
