Lack of keep clear signs on new roundabout and poor traffic light phasing

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 15:47, Wed 28 August 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6408545.

The new roundabout on A27 for the airport and school has numerous challenges.

At peak travel times the lights are phased such that people travelling East/West or West/East enter the roundabout on a green light but join a tailback for the next bit of road. The next set of lights then go red, meaning they are blocking the traffic leaving the airport. It can take up,to,three changes of light for more, than one car to be able to exit from the airport.

This is leading to poor driving behaviour such as trying to weave or push through the stationary traffic, or trying to join and bringing road rage behaviour from those already on the roundabout.

Some simple keep clear signs would alleviate the issue a little, but also checking the phasing of the lights would be helpful.

Additionally I have more than once had to perform an emergency stop after turning right onto the roundabout to go to the airport, have a green light to proceed but traffic travelling east/west do not stop at their red light….cameras would be of benefit here.
