Hi, Not a single street light on the main carriageway works near J1. is that because they have been switched off? Seems a bit wasteful to not use them at all seeing as they are perfectly fine and reduced the likely hood of an accident in winter.

    We have switched lighting off on this stretch of road to support the Department of Transport’s aim to reduce carbon emissions. These roads have been carefully chosen with all road users safety considered.

    We are still using road lighting where it is needed, however, we are confident that we can use less of it without a significant impact on safety. We will continue to monitor this and may restore the lighting if the situation changes.
