Lanes completely worn off road surface (white lines)

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 10:38, Tue 13 August 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6349536.

The road makings for the various lanes are completely worn off and have been for some time. You did resurface them once in the middle of winter, and they wore off in 3 days. You did confirm that this was the reason as they were done at the wrong time of year. I regularly nearly get taken out by other cars that have no lane discipline due to the lack of lines here on the roundabout (junction 10) when travelling from Barton Road to either turn right (A14 West) or going straight over to Burton Latimer. Seeing as last time (many months ago) they were done in winter and didn't last, how about making some good use of the Summer/Autumn weather and re marking them so that they last? The lane markings are near impossible to see in the dry they are so bad, and non existent in the wet

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue. If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways

  • Still not fixed. Autumn and winter is looming and we will be back to square one as the last repainting in winter lasted 3 days before it all came off again. Reason given, due to the conditions/ time of year when it was done. 🤷
