Signs leading to and through north bound

Reported via desktop in the Electronic Sign (NH) category anonymously at 21:42, Monday 12 August 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6348018.

All day, everyday the north bound side of the Hindhead tunnel is down to 40mph for the last 2-3 weeks for no reason at all making road users break aggressively causing long tail backs in peak times again no rhyme or reason just stays at 40mph all the time

Please can I have a response to why

Updates

  • Thank you for submitting this report.

We have been experiencing intermittent issues with the traffic signals at the tunnel. To ensure safety of the travelling public, we’ve had to implement a reduction to the speed limit whilst we work on rectifying the issue and undertake the necessary testing to ensure the system is stable. We expect this work to be completed soon.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards National Highways
