Variable speed limit sign graffitied

Reported via desktop in the Graffiti (NH) category anonymously at 10:19, Wednesday 7 August 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6326399.

The variable speed limit sign on the north bound approach to the hindhead tunnel has been over sprayed with grey paint making it unreadable. The sign is on the nearside between the main carriageway and the skip road onto the northbound carriageway immediately prior to the tunnel. This has been like this for at least two months.

Updates

  • Thank you for submitting this report

We have been experiencing intermittent issues with the traffic signals at the tunnel. To ensure safety of the travelling public, we’ve had to implement a reduction to the speed limit whilst we work on rectifying the issue and undertake the necessary testing to ensure the system is stable. We expect this work to be completed by mid-August. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards National Highways
