Raised cats eyes

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category by Ian Townsend at 13:47, Mon 5 August 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6317973.

When travelling northbound on A30 I overtook a car (lane 1 > lane 2) and rode over the cats eye between the lanes with my nearside rear tyre. This went with a large thump and caused rapid loss of pressure in this tyre and complete failure at 70mph. I managed to find an "Authorised Vehicle" bay just north of Marazanvose where I changed to the spare. The tyre was checked before our journey the previous week - good tread level and correctly inflated (Premium tyre). 2 items to note: 1. The lane marker (cat-eye) shoes appear to be raised notably higher from the road pavement in this section (Coldharbour to Zelah). They don't appear set-in correctly. 2. The presence of a number of "Authorised vehicle" bays amongst regular parking areas is a fantastic design feature and left me with a "limp" of around 1/3 mile to get to safety.
