Updates

  • We appreciate you taking the time to raise your concerns on this matter and we understand the impact noise from our road network has upon the people living close to it. Actions to reduce the impact of noise are called ‘mitigation measures’. Mitigation can be provided through noise barriers, noise insulation and resurfacing. We install noise barriers and other forms of sound mitigation within Noise Important Areas (NIAs) as designated by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). At this specific location, we don’t have a barrier and this area has been mitigated by resurfacing. As such we don’t have further plans for noise barriers. An earth bund appears to have been built by the housing developer as noise mitigation. If we were to build a new barrier here, it would be a similar height to the bund and so would offer very little difference to noise levels. In the future could you please report issues such as this to our Customer Contact Centre as this reporting tool is designed for defects such as a broken sign or barrier, litter, overgrown vegetation or potholes. Our Customer Contact Centre, available 24 hours a day at: • 0300 123 5000 • info@nationalhighways.co.uk Kind regards National Highways
