Ragwort growth
Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 16:32, Fri 26 July 2024
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6280669.
Within the roundabout and adjacent islands and verges there are significant overgrowths of ragwort. This is poisonous to grazing animals, and because of the proximity to farmland, this growth and spread should be dealt with, ideally before the flowers go to seed.

I believe you are responsible for the maintenance of motorways and the M5 as one of them. Under the Weeds Act 1966 you are therefore responsible for the removal of ragwort and other noxious weeds from all motorways, especially the M5. There is no absolving of this responsibility, why do I have to remind you every year and also for the trunk roads under your control ? Do I have to report this failure to Central Government? When under CC control, ragwort was removed as a matter of course.
