Fence Damage

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 13:08, Monday 22 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6260379.

On the 2nd May 2024 a lorry came off the M50 crashing through the fence and hedge then careering across the adjacent private drive before ending up in the ditch. The fence has been repaired to a very poor standard and all that now stands between the drive and the M50 is a flimsy wooden fence. The damage to the driveway, bank, and ditch have not been repaired. There is a public footpath along the driveway and there are numerous cars and pedestrians using the drive daily to access their property's. The driveway is on the same level as the M50 for a long stretch making it easy for a vehicle to veer off the M50 onto the drive. It is extremely dangerous and there needs to be a crash barrier put in place for everyone's safety. If another lorry came through the fence whilst one the families were travelling down the drive it could cause a fatal accident as there is nothing to stop a vehicle from the M50 careering onto the drive. This is a serious safety risk that needs to be properly addressed. The lorry is not the first vehicle that has come off the M50 onto the adjacent property, there are several vehicles every year that come off the stretch of the M50 onto the property.
