40 mph speed limit northbound - why and for how long

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6255448.

As a frequent user of the Hindhead Tunnel ( last used yesterday 20 July, 2024) I see no reason why for weeks the north bound tunnel has been limited to 40 mph. Is there is a problem please fix it or at least consider if the restriction is really needed and not just over kill and poorly considered.

    We have been experiencing intermittent issues with the traffic signals at the tunnel. To ensure safety of the travelling public, we’ve had to implement a reduction to the speed limit whilst we work on rectifying the issue and undertake the necessary testing to ensure the system is stable. We expect this work to be completed by mid-August. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
